HELPING YOU FIND YOUR WAY HOMEWARD

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

After deciding if renting or buying makes the most sense for you, figuring out where to live is your next major decision! For many, this is the most difficult decision as you need to weigh many factors: cost of the rental accommodation, convenience to public transit or major highways, proximity to your place of employment, and many others.

Cost of accommodation is likely to be your main factor in deciding where to live as your budget will dictate what areas you can afford to live in. Most Toronto neighbourhoods offer a range of rental pricing to fit all budgets but the downtown/midtown areas tend to have a higher than average rent due to a higher demand. As well, amenities in those areas such as shopping, parking, etc. tend to be higher than average making it more difficult to stay in a lower budget range.

Finding a location that suits your lifestyle is also very important. Here you might need to consider:

Travel time – proximity to work, public transit, major highways, shopping, etc.

Facilities – what is nearby…gyms, parks, bicycling paths, restaurants, entertainment, etc.

Schools – proximity to universities (if a student), elementary or high schools (if you have children)

Setting – is the area well-lit and safe, is it quiet, demographics of others living in the area, etc.

If you don’t already know the areas you would like to live in, you can check out the Toronto Real Estate Board’s neighbourhood index to get a better feel for parts of the city. If you need additional help, feel free to call me at 416.712.4441 and we can discuss your requirements to see what area best suits what you need.
